About
Hello, my name is Alex,
I’m a health science student with an interest in public health. Until recently I imagine many of you were only peripherally aware of public health professionals and what they do. I myself was wowed by the scope of the sector when I was first introduced to it. In the broadest sense, Public Health is the study of the health of a community or group and the practice of implementing changes at a level that affects that group as a whole. Public Health Professionals perform a variety of tasks we take for granted every day, but contribute massively to our health. Public Health workers take on roles like deciding how healthcare services get funded, developing and enforcing regulations on our food, drinks and drugs to even decisions like how many parks we should have in an area. In this Blog I hope to introduce you to some of the people working in Public Health to paint you a more detailed picture of the industry than I can do alone. Each Month I plan to bring you into a conversation with working professionals as we find out all about what they do, what drives them and hopefully along the way you’ll pick up some useful insights that may even serve you in your own career.
